About the Role
Join Amwins Self-Funded, LLC., as an Underwriting Assistant. This foundational role provides essential support to the underwriting team by coordinating proposal materials, organizing data, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the sales and renewal process. Designed as a learning and development position, it offers hands-on exposure to underwriting, building the skills and knowledge needed to grow into a full Underwriter role. This is an in-office position with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week after training completion.

Responsibilities
- Support: Assist underwriters in preparing RFP responses, renewal packets, and proposals for new business and existing clients.
- Review: Examine incoming prospects and renewal data for completeness and accuracy before submission to stop-loss markets.
- Analyze: Assist with network analyses, utilization summaries, and quote spreadsheet preparation.
- Organize: Maintain organized files of historical client and proposal data for business analysis and reference.
- Communication: Interact internally with brokers, third-party administrators, and carrier partners as directed by the underwriting team.
- Track: Monitor and follow up on outstanding submissions and renewal responses.
- Administration: Provide general administrative and data support to ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are accurate.
- Participate: Engage in training, team meetings, and workflow improvement initiatives to develop technical knowledge and business understanding.
Qualifications
- Education: A college degree or equivalent work experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Insurance and/or Underwriting experience is strongly preferred.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Customer Service Focused: Must be customer service oriented.
- Tech Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Technology & Adaptability: Comfortable working in evolving, technology-driven environments, including adopting new tools, systems, and AI-enabled workflows; able to adapt quickly as processes and responsibilities change.
- Prioritization: Proven ability to effectively manage time, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Strong ability to work cooperatively and jointly with various staff members.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with internal and external parties.
- Attention to Detail: A sense of urgency and attention to detail are necessities.
