Job description

Opportunity

Sophisticated data protection and compliance meet modern technology -- help us shape how companies manage regulatory affairs tomorrow. Clarius Group combines legal advice, financial operations, and IT under one roof. Our Legal & Consulting division merges the technical depth of a law firm with the possibilities of modern technology.

We confidently guide companies through an increasingly complex regulatory environment -- with legal support and tech-assisted services, precisely tailored to their actual needs. Our in-house approach covers numerous legal areas and stands for maximum time and cost efficiency with the highest quality standards.

In our own tech department, we develop software solutions that we seamlessly integrate into our services or offer as standalone products on the market. We have been growing continuously for over ten years -- without losing our startup spirit -- and have established ourselves as a high-quality legal service provider.

Responsibilities

For our Legal & Consulting division, we are looking for an experienced individual who has a high level of expertise in data protection and compliance, and who is also eager to rethink regulatory affairs with legal tech. You will handle demanding mandates -- from GDPR-compliant concepts and internal audits to the establishment of effective compliance management systems -- and actively shape how we use and further develop technology-supported processes and tools in daily consulting.

  • Permanent position, unlimited, full-time
  • Start date: immediately
  • Locations: Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart -- or fully remote
  • Data Protection at Eye Level: You will comprehensively advise our clients on GDPR, BDSG, and related special laws -- from individual questions to strategic data protection architecture.
  • External Data Protection Officer: You will act as the external data protection officer for selected clients and become a reliable voice within the company.
  • Compliance Management Systems: You will conceptualize, implement, and audit CMS -- from risk analysis and policies to training and effectiveness controls.
  • Audits and Data Protection Impact Assessments: You will conduct data protection audits, DPIAs, and compliance reviews, assess risks, and develop actionable packages of measures.
  • Contracts and Third-Country Transfers: You will design and negotiate data processing agreements, joint controller agreements, and standard contractual clauses -- even in complex, international constellations.
  • Incidents and Authority Contact: You will confidently manage data protection incidents, coordinate notifications to supervisory authorities, and represent our clients in communications with authorities.
  • Legal Tech in Practice: You will use our tools for the register of processing activities, DPA management, and compliance workflows, provide feedback to our tech department, and help shape further development.
  • Client Relationships: You will build and expand long-term mandates -- becoming a trusted sparring partner for your contacts.

Profile

  • Fully qualified lawyer with both state examinations, admission to the bar is an advantage
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in data protection and/or compliance law -- ideally in a commercial law firm, an in-house department, or a legal service provider
  • Sound knowledge of GDPR, BDSG, and related regulations (e.g., TTDSG, NIS2, DSA, AI Act)
  • Experience as an external or internal data protection officer and/or in setting up compliance management systems
  • Additional qualifications such as specialist lawyer for IT law, CIPP/E, CIPM, or comparable certifications are a plus
  • Genuine enthusiasm for legal tech and a willingness to actively rethink compliance and data protection processes
  • Fluent German and very good English skills
  • Independent, structured way of working -- even under high workload
  • Service mentality, team spirit, and enjoyment of direct client contact
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Why Us?

We are large enough to handle demanding mandates -- and small enough for your ideas to have a visible impact. Here, you won't work in one of many practice groups, but in an environment where law, technology, and entrepreneurial thinking intersect. If you are eager to develop data protection and compliance rather than just providing it, this is the place for you.

Specifically, you can expect:

  • Flexibility that truly deserves the name: 100% remote, hybrid, or on-site in Hamburg, Frankfurt, or Stuttgart -- you decide.
  • Flexible working hours and a model that fits your life.
  • Demanding mandates in one of the most dynamic legal fields -- with real scope for design.
  • Direct contact with the tech department: Your practical experience flows into product development.
  • Targeted development through regular reviews, further training, and individual development paths.
  • Flat hierarchies, a "du" culture, and communication at eye level -- without professional arrogance.
  • Health and sports offers such as JobRad and other benefits.
  • Team events and joint activities, because work can also be fun.

Sound like you? Then we look forward to receiving your application -- preferably with a short cover letter, CV, and a note on what particularly appeals to you about this position. We are happy to be available if you have any questions beforehand.

About Us

As part of the Clarius Group, we are one of the leading managed service providers in Germany. Our goal: to design processes more intelligently, reduce complexity, and give our clients the freedom to concentrate on their core business.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a dedicated individual with a good feel for processes, who enjoys working analytically and likes to process data in a structured manner. If you want to take responsibility and develop further in a dynamic environment, we look forward to getting to know you.
