Common Cause is seeking a collaborative and energetic Election Protection Organizer for our Arizona team. This role is crucial for expanding our reach and volunteer base to protect and strengthen democracy in the upcoming election.
This position lies at the intersection of community engagement and democratic processes. You will work with diverse communities across Arizona to grow our membership through targeted recruitment and by involving members in our Election Protection initiatives. Additionally, you will assist in comprehensive Election Protection training and serve as a primary contact for volunteers and members.
This is a full-time, temporary position reporting to the State Director, Arizona. The role can be based in Phoenix, Prescott, Flagstaff, or surrounding areas. You will be expected to work from our office and/or travel throughout Arizona at least 3 days per week, with potential for daily travel during peak periods. This role begins May 16, 2026, and concludes December 15, 2026.
Responsibilities
Engage members in Election Protection efforts
- Support recruitment and training for members and volunteers for election administration advocacy, early voting, Election Day, and post-election activities.
- Assist in developing and leading engaging Election Protection trainings for members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Participate in nonpartisan educational and outreach activities, both virtual and in-person, to raise awareness of our work. This includes tabling, hosting events, and information sessions.
- Engage in state and/or multi-state campaigns and mobilizations to defend voting rights.
- Assist in developing and disseminating Election Protection educational resources and toolkits through traditional and digital communication platforms.
- Support the implementation of systems for managing Common Cause members and volunteers for early voting and Election Day, including sign-ups, placement, and volunteer engagement.
- Support the collection and reporting of data from voters, volunteers, partners, election officials, and other sources.
- Share Election Protection educational materials on social media to engage members and disseminate accurate election information.
Build and maintain relationships with community partners and elected officials
- Represent Common Cause in various coalitions.
- Engage with Boards of Supervisors and local election officials across counties to discuss voter access and election administration.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders and host community meetings to understand barriers to voter participation.
Administrative and other duties
- Complete administrative tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, and solve problems resourcefully.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with office productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Slack, Canva, Zoom).
The following are required:
- Experience supporting membership growth and/or working on an issue-based or political campaign.
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team retreats.
- Ability to work in-person at the Arizona office or various locations statewide at least 3 days per week, potentially daily during peak season.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Access to a vehicle for transporting election materials (mileage reimbursed).
- Willingness to maintain a social media presence for Common Cause.
- Adherence to Common Cause's nonpartisan policy (no current elected office, no affiliation with political candidate committees or party leadership).

- This position is part of a union-represented collective bargaining unit.
- Common Cause cannot sponsor employment visas at this time. Proof of US work authorization is required.
