Scrum Master Associate (Remote)

Job Type: Contract (6 Months) Compensation: $35-$45 per hour Industry: Health Insurance

Our client, a leading organization in the healthcare and health insurance industry, is seeking a Scrum Master Associate to support agile delivery and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams. This role plays a critical part in driving organizational effectiveness, delivering customer value, ensuring product quality, and enabling predictable team performance.

The Scrum Master Associate will facilitate Agile practices, remove complex impediments, and mentor team members while aligning delivery efforts with broader business objectives. Job Description

The Scrum Master Associate is responsible for leading Agile delivery and fostering continuous improvement across teams and initiatives of moderate complexity. This role works closely with stakeholders, product teams, and leadership to ensure efficient delivery of high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Champion Agile values, principles, and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) across multiple teams
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
  • Lead backlog management activities, including intake, prioritization, and alignment to business goals
  • Conduct journey mapping sessions and define "ready" and "done" criteria
  • Identify process improvement opportunities using data-driven insights and implement best practices
  • Proactively remove team- and organization-level impediments to maintain delivery momentum
  • Ensure compliance with Agile lifecycle standards and contribute to organizational Agile maturity
  • Support documentation efforts, including business cases, requirements summaries, and portfolio alignment
  • Train, mentor, and support Agile team members and junior Scrum Masters
  • Prepare and present performance, value delivery, and continuous improvement updates to stakeholders
  • Collaborate across a highly matrixed organization and manage cross-functional team dependencies
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy while maintaining alignment with leadership priorities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of relevant experience (including transferable and military experience)
  • 2+ years of experience working on Agile teams or in a Scrum Master capacity
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira (Atlassian) and/or collaboration tools like Mural
  • Exposure to artificial intelligence (AI) or enterprise automation tools
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and supporting iterative delivery processes
  • Ability to use data and metrics to communicate insights and inform decisions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain highly engaged teams
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans
  • Comfortable working in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn and grow into a strategic role
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with integrations between Agile tools (e.g., Jira) and ITIL platforms such as ServiceNow or TeamDynamix
  • Strong data analysis experience to support decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Agile certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe, or LeSS
