Drug Authorization Specialist

We are seeking candidates for a Drug Authorization Specialist position with a highly successful and widely respected Boston hospital. This organization is well known for providing exceptional care and performing groundbreaking research. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of prior authorization or medical billing experience within a healthcare environment.

This is a contract-to-hire position that will pay $22-24/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour workweek. Qualified candidates who are 100% remote located in New England will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-registration of new patients by making/receiving patient calls, collecting and documenting patient demographics, financial, and other relevant personal information.
  • Verify patient identification
  • Update changes to patient insurance and/or demographic information as needed
  • Manage referral and authorization information as assigned
  • Communicate regularly with physicians and other medical providers regarding clinical clarifications
  • Document daily activities in a timely and accurate manner in the hospital information system

Qualifications:

  • BS in Health Science or related field (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years of prior authorization or medical billing experience is required
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Experience with Epic is a plus
