Drug Authorization Specialist
We are seeking candidates for a Drug Authorization Specialist position with a highly successful and widely respected Boston hospital. This organization is well known for providing exceptional care and performing groundbreaking research. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of prior authorization or medical billing experience within a healthcare environment.
This is a contract-to-hire position that will pay $22-24/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour workweek. Qualified candidates who are 100% remote located in New England will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-registration of new patients by making/receiving patient calls, collecting and documenting patient demographics, financial, and other relevant personal information.
- Verify patient identification
- Update changes to patient insurance and/or demographic information as needed
- Manage referral and authorization information as assigned
- Communicate regularly with physicians and other medical providers regarding clinical clarifications
- Document daily activities in a timely and accurate manner in the hospital information system
Qualifications:
- BS in Health Science or related field (Preferred)
- 1-2 years of prior authorization or medical billing experience is required
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Experience with Epic is a plus
