[Remote] Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Operations Research

About the Role

Instacart is revolutionizing the grocery industry by providing essential grocery delivery services. We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to focus on Operations Research. This is a remote position open to candidates in the USA. You will tackle high-impact problems in fulfillment, working cross-functionally to build ML solutions that boost operational efficiency and improve the shopper experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions for practical marketplace challenges.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to understand business needs and build impactful ML applications.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment of solutions with business goals.
• Continuously refine and advance our algorithms and models to enhance operational efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications

• Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering.
• 3+ years of industry experience applying machine learning to solve real-world problems with large datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Fluency in data manipulation tools (SQL, Pandas) and machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, XGBoost, Keras/Tensorflow).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of deep learning frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience with applying machine learning and optimization techniques to marketplace problems.
