This role plays a key part in ensuring patients receive a seamless, accurate, and compassionate access experience within a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will be responsible for managing patient registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling while supporting compliance requirements and revenue cycle processes. Acting as a critical link between patients, clinical teams, and insurance providers, you help ensure timely authorizations, accurate billing, and clear communication. The position requires strong attention to detail, customer service excellence, and the ability to navigate sensitive financial and medical information with professionalism. You will also contribute to improving the overall patient journey by coordinating across departments and resolving access-related issues efficiently. Accountabilities:
- Manage patient registration processes by collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy and avoid duplicate records.
- Conduct insurance eligibility verification, benefit checks, and obtain pre-authorizations within required timeframes.
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage when applicable.
- Create patient financial estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans while ensuring accurate cash handling and reconciliation.
- Coordinate closely with utilization management, clinical, and ancillary teams to resolve authorization and coverage issues.
- Provide consistent communication and documentation of patient, payer, and insurance interactions, including payment arrangements and decisions.
- Support operational coverage needs including switchboard (PBX) functions and assist with general administrative duties as required.
Requirements
This role requires strong customer service skills combined with healthcare or revenue cycle exposure in a detail-oriented, patient-focused environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with insurance processes, financial transactions, and multiple administrative systems while maintaining empathy and professionalism.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- 1+ year of experience in customer service, healthcare operations, or revenue cycle (preferred).
- Familiarity with insurance verification, eligibility checks, or patient access functions strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn database and healthcare systems quickly.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and compassionate approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow complex procedures and adapt to changing healthcare workflows.
- Certifications such as CHAA or CRCR are a plus.
