Work at Home Bilingual Arabic-English Video-Phone Interpreter
Position: Video-Phone Interpreter Location: United States (Work at Home) Pay: $18 - $21 per hour (dependent on location, experience, and work availability)

Position Overview
The Arabic Video-Telephone Interpreter handles on-demand calls, rendering conversations between Arabic and English speakers. You will break communication barriers in industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
You will process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology and understanding common industry procedures. Sessions may involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects. This position involves verbal translation only; written translation is not required.
This is a remote position requiring a quiet and secure home-office environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Respond promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions in a friendly and professional manner.
- Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
- Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device (laptop, desktop, mobile phone, or tablet).
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all sessions.
- Remain calm during sessions, even if speakers are incoherent or upset, especially in emergency situations.
- Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
- Follow client instructions and protocol to meet client expectations with Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP), avoiding interaction with the LEP without client permission.
- Understand protocol and terminology for various industries (Medical, Insurance, Finance, Law, etc.).
- Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
- Note: Some calls may be highly emotional or stressful. Extended call durations without breaks or high call volumes may occur. You must maintain company service standards in this dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Arabic and English, with associated cultural dynamics.
- Cultural competency and ability to assess regional and accent differences.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills for accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate, remain detached, neutral, and objective, even during sensitive subject matter (e.g., end-of-life, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, sexual orientation/gender expression).
- Education or work experience in language-related fields (teaching, language assessment, translation, interpretation) preferred.
- Adaptability to LanguageLine Solutions (LLS) technology enhancements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Work authorization that does not require future sponsorship (e.g., H1-B, F-1 OPT, TN visa).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current employees of LLS clients or affiliated businesses may not be eligible.
- Ability to read and write the requested languages is highly preferred.
- A post-offer, pre-employment background check and/or drug screen may be required based on location.
Technical Requirements
- Dedicated personal device for business purposes (Desktop/Laptop: Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS; Tablets: iPadOS, Android; Smartphones: iOS, Android).
- Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
- High-speed internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, Ping ≤ 300 ms, Jitter ≤ 30 ms).
- Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse, remaining stationary in front of a computer and webcam for most of the workday.
- Must use a headset for prolonged periods.
- Ability to operate company-provided software and systems.
- Sufficient manual dexterity for typing or writing.
- Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels (computer, audio, telephone).
