Research Faculty Appointment - Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist

The Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM) at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist for a non-tenure track, open rank Research Faculty Appointment. This is a hybrid (Onsite/Remote), full-time, benefits-eligible position located at the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research (KCCMR) in Bastrop, Texas.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide pathology diagnostic services, research collaboration, and education.
  • Offer anatomic pathology support for researchers, early drug discovery, preclinical development, and safety assessment of novel therapeutic products.
  • Conduct necropsies for discovery studies and manage colony health.
  • Primary caseload involves nonhuman primates, with rodents making up the remainder.
  • Establish research collaborations with scientists and sponsors.
  • Service on institutional academic and research committees.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited university or equivalent foreign degree.
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP), or ACVP phase II eligibility is required.
  • Post-doctoral experience and/or education in veterinary pathology (PhD in a related field) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a veterinary pathologist (including formal training under a Diplomate of the ACVP/ECVP).
  • Experience in toxicologic pathology and laboratory animal pathology is preferred.
  • Must meet institutional requirements for an academic appointment.

Academic Rank Requirements (Illustrative)

  • Assistant Professor: At least 2 years' experience as a postdoctoral fellow or instructor, or equivalent time as a basic scientist.
  • Associate Professor: Typically, 5 years' experience as an Assistant Professor or equivalent.
  • Professor: Typically, 5 years' experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent doctoral training per discipline.

About the Location

  • The KCCMR is a 385-acre research complex in Bastrop County, approximately 40 miles from Austin, Texas.
  • It houses over 2,200 nonhuman primates across eight species and employs 150 faculty and staff.
