Responsibilities
- End-to-End Ownership: Take ownership of key components within the Oracle Database VOS stack, managing the entire lifecycle from concept and design through implementation, testing, release, and production support.
- Architectural Direction: Drive the architecture and technical direction for new and evolving services, ensuring both immediate needs are met and future reusability across various problems.
- Infrastructure Development: Build and enhance networking and distributed systems infrastructure, including TCP/IP and HTTP/REST-based services, with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and operability.
- AI/Agentic Frameworks: Design and implement AI/agentic frameworks and workflows to boost developer productivity. This includes LLM-assisted code comprehension and generation, and scalable solutions for large, complex codebases.
- Streaming and Analytics: Contribute to streaming and analytics enablement, integrating Kafka-oriented streaming and Apache Arrow-based analytics (DataFrames, Arrow Flight, Arrow Flight SQL) for next-generation observability and data workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with database development teams to define requirements, integration points, and testing strategies (functional, system, performance).
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for other Oracle Database groups, guiding the adoption and usage of delivered features and services.
- Production Support: Assist support and field-facing teams in diagnosing and resolving production issues, contributing to root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- Industry Engagement: Stay current with advancements in systems, networking, AI, and streaming analytics, evaluating and adopting relevant open-source initiatives to enhance Oracle Database's competitiveness.
- Communication: Clearly communicate complex technical topics across teams, translating them into actionable designs, reviews, and implementation plans.
Skills Required
- Proven experience in designing, architecting, and implementing product-facing infrastructure and platform capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of networking and distributed systems services, including TCP/IP and HTTP/REST-based interfaces.
- Experience with AI/agentic frameworks and workflows that improve developer productivity on large codebases.
- Familiarity with streaming analytics and modern analytics integrations (e.g., Kafka, Apache Arrow-based stacks).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams to deliver high-quality features.
- Experience in driving architectural and technical direction for new and evolving services.
- A strong focus on performance, reliability, and operability in infrastructure development.
- Experience with functional, system, and performance testing methodologies.
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert and liaison for other teams.
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving production environment issues.
- A proactive approach to staying current with industry and open-source trends in systems, networking, AI, and streaming analytics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear designs and plans.
