Job Summary

Responsible for assisting physician offices in the scheduling of surgical procedures for patients while providing the Surgical Services division, PFS, Anesthesiology and other required departments with required information.

Details of the Position:

  • Completes the scheduling process by coordinating surgery department (hospital or ambulatory surgery center) and physician offices' needs. This includes: communicating with physician offices to assure scheduling system is accurate: ensuring the schedule is completed in a timely manner ahead of surgery date; documenting block release times for block utilization reports.

  • Schedules surgery visits as required.

  • Arranges cases to assure maximum effectiveness of schedule.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent and
  • College Coursework Required: Medical Terminology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years Required: Related experience in a healthcare setting or three years progressive secretarial experience in healthcare
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a surgical ambulatory care or acute care setting and/or a scheduling position and
  • Preferred: Experience in CareCast/Flow Cast

Skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently. (Required)
  • Strong customer service skills. (Required)
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications. Experience with scheduling programs. (Preferred)
  • Detail oriented and good problem-solving skills. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

Positions may be office/remote hybrid requiring:

  • Ability to work in an independent and remote environment.
  • Ability to work from home in a secure environment free of distractions with appropriate high-speed connectivity
  • Ability to report to the office within 60 minutes if required.
  • Responsibilities may include travel to and from clinic sites and multiple locations.

Working Conditions

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.
  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
