Software Engineer
ProService Hawaii is seeking a mid-senior Software Engineer to design, build, and deliver scalable solutions that power our HR platform and improve how internal teams operate. This role blends strong engineering fundamentals with a practical focus on AI-driven automation --- shipping reliable code that creates measurable business value in a fast-moving SaaS environment. You'll be part of our Product & Engineering team, working at the intersection of platform reliability and intelligent automation.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Design, build, and deploy scalable software solutions using modern architectures, APIs, and cloud technologies (AWS, TypeScript, React/Next.js)
- Own features end-to-end---from requirements clarification and system design through development, testing, and production release
- Develop AI-powered automation tools and workflows that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
- Maintain high code quality through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD best practices while proactively reducing technical debt
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to system reliability and uptime goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver impactful, user-centered solutions
What You'll Bring To The Team
You bring a strong foundation in software engineering with a track record of delivering reliable, production-grade systems. You're comfortable owning work from concept through deployment and thrive in environments where priorities evolve and speed matters. You combine analytical thinking with sound judgment, communicate clearly across teams, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes without heavy oversight.
- Proven experience building and shipping production-grade software in a SaaS or product-driven environment
- Hands-on experience with modern development stacks, including AWS (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS), Git workflows, and web technologies (TypeScript, React/Next.js)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex systems, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle, including Agile practices (Scrum or Kanban)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet delivery commitments, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to AI/ML APIs or LLM-based integrations is a plus, especially in building automation or intelligent workflows

You'll have real AI/automation scope, building intelligent systems that directly improve how ProService operates --- all within a fast-paced SaaS environment where sprint cadences, production incidents, and evolving priorities are part of everyday work.
That said, this isn't a pure research or greenfield role. You'll balance innovation with maintaining and improving production systems. It's also not a siloed position --- success requires ongoing collaboration with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders. And if you need heavily defined specs before you can start moving, this likely isn't the right fit. We expect you to clarify requirements and drive forward independently.
WORK LOCATION
We welcome applications from candidates based in Hawaii, who would work a hybrid schedule (in-office Tuesday--Thursday, option for remote Monday & Friday), as well as fully remote candidates based on the US Mainland. Remote candidates must be available during Hawaii Standard Time (HST / UTC-10) business hours, with preference given to those on the West Coast.
Compensation
The base compensation for this position is $110,000 -- $137,000 annualized depending on experience and qualifications.
