What You Will Do
- Own backend systems and infrastructure end-to-end, from design through deployment and scaling
- Build and maintain high-performance APIs and services powering core credit products
- Design scalable backend architecture using Node.js (TypeScript) on AWS
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to ship features rapidly in production
- Make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and scalability
- Build systems that handle sensitive financial and credit data reliably and securely
- Improve system observability, performance, and maintainability
- Contribute to technical standards, best practices, and backend architecture decisions
- Work in a highly autonomous environment with full ownership of backend domains
Ideal Candidate Background
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience
- Experience at early-stage or high-growth startups (<200 employees preferred)
- Strong ownership of backend systems or infrastructure end-to-end
- Experience building scalable systems in production environments
- Exposure to fintech, credit, or financial systems strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments
- Undergrad degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Node.js or TypeScript (Python also acceptable)
- Experience with AWS infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, S3, etc.)
- Experience with Postgres and/or DynamoDB
- Familiarity with React/Next.js (nice to have for full-stack exposure)
- Experience using AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, Devin, etc.)
- Experience working on consumer fintech or credit products
- Strong system design and architecture skills

- Base salary: $180,000 -- $250,000
