What You Will Do

• Own backend systems and infrastructure end-to-end, from design through deployment and scaling
• Build and maintain high-performance APIs and services powering core credit products
• Design scalable backend architecture using Node.js (TypeScript) on AWS
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to ship features rapidly in production
• Make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and scalability
• Build systems that handle sensitive financial and credit data reliably and securely
• Improve system observability, performance, and maintainability
• Contribute to technical standards, best practices, and backend architecture decisions
• Work in a highly autonomous environment with full ownership of backend domains

Ideal Candidate Background

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience at early-stage or high-growth startups (<200 employees preferred)
• Strong ownership of backend systems or infrastructure end-to-end
• Experience building scalable systems in production environments
• Exposure to fintech, credit, or financial systems strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments
• Undergrad degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Node.js or TypeScript (Python also acceptable)
• Experience with AWS infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, S3, etc.)
• Experience with Postgres and/or DynamoDB
• Familiarity with React/Next.js (nice to have for full-stack exposure)
• Experience using AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, Devin, etc.)
• Experience working on consumer fintech or credit products
• Strong system design and architecture skills

• Base salary: $180,000 -- $250,000
