Job Opportunity: Cloud Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Mechanicsburg, PA Duration: 6+ Months (Contract)

This position requires an in-depth background check, including fingerprinting, and requires successful results.

Work Location & Schedule

• Type: Hybrid (60% remote / 40% onsite)
• Onsite Address: 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050
• Onsite Requirement: Two days per week. Schedule to be discussed during the interview.
• Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
• Relocation: Candidates nationwide are welcome, but relocation to Mechanicsburg, PA is required for this hybrid role.
• First Day: Must be able to attend onsite on the first day for equipment and badging.

Clearance Requirements

• Contingent on compliant PATCH and passing PSDC/CJIS background checks.
• Start date is dependent on successful completion and approval of PATCH and PSDC-related clearances.

About the Role

The Public Safety Delivery Center (PSDC) is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the PSDC Solutions Management Group. This role will primarily collaborate with the PSDC enterprise team, focusing on the design, development, implementation, and support of cloud-native solutions within Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience in cloud engineering, application modernization, workload migration, and DevOps practices. Direct, personal experience in these areas from prior projects is essential; general team participation is not sufficient.

This role also requires the ability to support applied AI solution patterns, including GPT model integration, prompt engineering, and enterprise use cases like summarization, semantic search, and intelligent chatbots.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and support cloud-native applications, services, and APIs using technologies such as .NET, .NET Core, containers, Python, and related tools.
• Design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and reliable solutions in Azure and AWS environments.
• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure and platform services for application modernization, integration, and enterprise solution delivery.
• Support cloud migration, integration, and modernization efforts across various PSDC business processes.
• Utilize Azure services including App Service, Service Bus, API Management, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, File Storage, and Table Storage.
• Work with Azure infrastructure and networking components such as Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute.
• Leverage AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, and RDS for secure and reliable cloud solutions.
• Support containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Azure AKS, Azure Container Apps, and similar platforms.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices with tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, and NuGet.
• Apply software engineering, software architecture, SDLC, and data management best practices.
• Contribute to technical solution design, implementation planning, engineering analysis, and related review activities.
• Apply knowledge of networking and infrastructure concepts (DNS, Active Directory, firewalls, load balancers, virtual networking).
• Support GPT-enabled solutions, including prompt engineering, intelligent chatbots, document summarization, semantic search, and related use cases.
• Consider token usage, cost management, performance optimization, content filtering, and compliance for GPT-based solutions in production cloud environments, especially within government and public safety contexts.
