Job Summary
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for processing payroll tax reports, assisting with year-end reporting, data entry, and providing exceptional customer service for tax-related inquiries. This role requires a high level of expertise in Federal, State, and local taxes, and active participation in a team focused on customer service.
This position is 100% remote and can be performed anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or U.S. Territories.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll tax reports, data input, and audits according to SOX and Internal Auditor requirements.
- Enter manual tax withholding forms submitted by associates via a third-party vendor.
- Prepare payroll reports using Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, formulas).
- Manage the Payroll shared mailbox and ticketing system for inquiries, ADP password resets, Equifax notifications, and W2 reprint requests.
- Run and audit the weekly address change report, collaborating with HR for accurate tax setups and record keeping.
- Perform daily tax funding reconciliation.
- Register for new jurisdictions as needed.
- Conduct monthly maintenance of AK Occupational and Geographic Codes.
- Process IRS Lock in Letters.
- Perform monthly/quarterly taxable benefits loads into Workday.
- Maintain Operating Procedure documentation.
- Research and correct payroll errors, including wage and tax balance adjustments.
- Assist the payroll team in completing all payroll-related tasks accurately and timely to support weekly and biweekly payroll for approximately 30,000 associates across 65+ divisions.
- Assist with subpoena/legal requests.
- Assist with quarterly and year-end auditing, including SUI rates at ADP.
- Assist with the W2 and W2c process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Training:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
- CPP Certification preferred
Related Experience:
- 3+ years of experience with high-volume, multi-state employee base required
- 3+ years of Payroll system experience required
- Workday experience strongly preferred
- Sarbanes-Oxley implementation experience preferred
- ADP tax filing experience preferred
- Kronos experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Intermediate Excel skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and motivation to complete all necessary work
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to perform under intense deadline pressure
- Strong customer service mindset
Compensation and Benefits
This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus. Benefits may include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
The expected base pay rate for this role is between $50,000 - $80,000, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
