About 1031X

At 1031X, we are fundamentally reengineering the 1031 exchange ecosystem --- creating technology solutions to enhance trust, compliance, and efficiency .

Join our engineering team and help us build and scale the software backbone for the modern exchange economy.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of our scalable platform---from intuitive front-end user experiences to robust backend services. You'll focus on building scalable, secure, and maintainable systems that serve high-value stakeholders.

This role offers significant ownership of feature development and the opportunity to influence application structure, performance optimization, and infrastructure decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Deploy Platform Features

  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer to implement new functionality across our tech stack based on event-driven workflows and stakeholder-specific logic.

End-to-End Feature Ownership

  • Deliver both frontend (React.js + Tailwind CSS + Next.js) and backend (Node.js + Prisma + PostgreSQL) components, including UI logic, data modeling, and API integrations.

Data Interoperability

  • Work with REST and GraphQL APIs to ensure seamless data sync between our platform and platforms such as HubSpot, Apollo ,Crexi, AirCall and Dotloop.

Compliance-Embedded Execution

  • Build tooling that adheres to regulatory timelines , role-based permissions, and audit-tracked workflows.

Performance & Security

  • Support edge caching, encrypted document handling (AES-256), JWT authentication, and role-based access (Firebase Auth) to deliver SOC 2-aligned functionality.

Collaborative Development

  • Participate in sprint rituals, code reviews, and architecture discussions, helping scale platform quality with attention to testing, observability (Datadog/Sentry), and CI/CD workflows.

Who You Are

  • 5--8 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable SaaS products in cloud-native environments.
  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, and GraphQL.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Prisma ORM, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS or Vercel), and secure data workflows.
  • Strong understanding of application security, authentication, and performance optimization under load.
  • You are comfortable collaborating with designers, stakeholders, and senior engineers to deliver elegant, production-grade features.
  • Prior experience in financial services, compliance tooling, or enterprise-grade systems is a strong plus.

Nice to Haves

  • Exposure to systems supporting document governance, milestone tracking, or compliance automation.
  • Interest in scalable SaaS design and hands-on experience with event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with real estate technology, financial transaction management, or tax-related software is a plus but not required.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a purpose-built team reshaping a $100B industry from the ground up.
  • Work on a next-generation platform that replaces fragmented, manual processes with trust-as-a-platform infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with passionate technologists in a remote-first, high-ownership environment.
  • See your work directly impact the speed, security, and success of real estate investment transactions.

Location

This role is 100% remote and open to candidates legally authorized to work in the U.S.
