About 1Password

1Password is growing. We've surpassed $400M in ARR and we're continuing to accelerate, earning a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four years in a row and teaming up with iconic partners like Oracle Red Bull Racing.

At 1Password, we're building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today.

If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you.

The Role

The Sr. Director of Engineering, Emerging Products, Product Engineering, will lead the technical strategy, execution, and operational integration of acquired technologies, teams, and platforms into 1Password's ecosystem.

This leader will play a critical role in helping 1Password scale through strategic acquisitions, ensuring acquired products and organizations are integrated thoughtfully, securely, and efficiently while preserving business continuity and accelerating customer value.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Security, IT, Legal, Finance, and Executive Leadership teams to evaluate acquisition opportunities, assess technical risk, shape integration strategy, and drive post-acquisition execution across organizations.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for

Experience

  • 12 years of software engineering experience, including 5 years leading large engineering organizations through significant organizational or platform transformation.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale integration, modernization, or platform consolidation initiatives.
  • Experience operating in high-growth SaaS organizations with multiple products, platforms, or acquired systems.

Technical leadership

  • Strong systems-thinking mindset with experience modernizing monolithic architectures into scalable, API-first, cloud-native services.
  • Deep understanding of platform engineering, distributed systems, reliability, observability, operational excellence, and developer workflows.
  • Experience balancing short-term delivery pressure with long-term architectural sustainability.

Organizational leadership

  • Demonstrated success leading leaders across multiple organizations and functions.
  • Strong organizational design, change management, and cross-functional alignment capabilities.
  • Ability to build trust quickly and navigate complex stakeholder environments.

M&A and integration mindset

  • Experience evaluating technical risk, integration complexity, operational readiness, and platform compatibility during acquisition or transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to establish clear integration roadmaps, milestones, and decision frameworks while adapting to evolving business priorities.

What You Can Expect

  • Lead post-acquisition technical integration strategy: Partner with executive leadership to assess acquisition opportunities and define technical integration approaches.
  • Drive organizational and platform transformation: Lead complex integration initiatives spanning architecture consolidation, identity systems, infrastructure modernization, and customer migration strategies.
  • Build scalable integration frameworks: Establish repeatable processes, tooling, and governance that enable 1Password to integrate acquisitions efficiently.
  • Enable secure, resilient, enterprise-scale platforms: Ensure acquired technologies meet 1Password's standards for security, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead through ambiguity: Guide organizations through periods of rapid growth and transformation while maintaining clarity and accountability.
  • Develop and scale leaders: Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing engineering leaders and teams.

Compensation

  • USA: $285,000 - $425,000 USD, plus benefits, equity, and incentive programs.
  • Canada: $265,000 - $398,000 CAD, plus benefits, equity, and incentive programs.
