Role Overview

We are seeking a high-caliber Director or VP of Finance (flexible based on experience) to serve as our Strategic Finance & FP&A Leader. This individual must operate with extreme autonomy, taking full ownership of our financial ecosystem with little to no oversight. Your primary mandate is to transforming raw data into an undeniable, high-valuation growth narrative.

You will manage a lean internal team of 3-4 accounting personnel, direct external tax/compliance resources, and spearhead critical automation projects (Salesforce integrations and ERP/FP&A software migrations) to build a seamless, transaction-ready financial engine.

Key Responsibilities

1. FP&A & Investor Narrative

  • Forward-Looking Models: Develop robust 3-5 year financial forecasts that prove business scalability, and survive institutional investor scrutiny.
  • KPI Optimization: Drive a firm-wide focus on maximizing valuation drivers. Track, report, and improve key metrics including Operating margin, ARR, Churn, CTV, CAC, etc.
  • Data Visualization & Board Reporting: Partner with our internal pool of data engineers to build real-time, automated dashboards that showcase key metrics directly to executive leadership and the Board of Directors (BoD).
  • Automated Diligence: Construct an automated, institutional-grade, and auditable reporting trail to ensure the buyer's due diligence process is frictionless.
  • Continue the cost leadership function of Finance department.

2. Systems Integration & FP&A Automation

  • Cross-Platform Systems Integration: Lead the end-to-end integration of Salesforce with our ERP and accounting software stack to eliminate data silos.
  • ERP System Migration: Transition the company from legacy configurations (e.g., QBO) into optimized mid-market platforms (e.g., Rillet or Sage).
  • FP&A Software Deployment: Implement and leverage financial intelligence tools (such as Cube or similar) to eliminate manual spreadsheet dependencies and accelerate reporting.

3. Team Leadership & Autonomous Operations

  • Lean Team Management: Manage, mentor, and optimize a lean internal accounting team of 3-4 headcount covering day-to-day accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bookkeeping workflows.
  • External Partner Oversight: Act as the ultimate point of contact for external tax CPAs, auditors, and regulatory compliance resources, ensuring all filings are flawless without requiring executive intervention.

Key "Gloss & Shine" Initiatives

You will immediately task your team and leverage automation to execute these critical projects:

  • Develop a "Clean" QoE: Proactively audit and scrub financial records to resolve any historical discrepancies, ensuring a bulletproof Quality of Earnings (QoE) review.
  • Standardize Reporting: Establish a institutional-grade, formal month-end close cycle paired with rigorous variance analysis (Actuals vs. Forecast).
  • Protect IP Value: Ensure financials precisely delineate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) from R&D spending.
  • Automate Processes: Drastically reduce spreadsheet reliance by deploying AI and automation tools for high-volume invoice processing and bank reconciliations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience (Director, VP, or Head of Finance), with direct experience preparing a company for a next-level transaction.
  • Autonomy: Proven ability to run a corporate finance department independently, establish strategy, and execute tasks with minimal executive oversight.
  • Valuation Driver Expertise: Deep understanding of how to influence, optimize, and present tech-sector financial metrics to private equity sponsors and strategic buyers.
  • Technical Software Stack: Hands-on experience integrating modern finance tools (Rillet, Sage, or QBO) and advanced FP&A software (Cube).
  • Lean Team Leadership: Experience successfully running a lean financial operation by substituting manual headcount with automation and software.
