Job Summary

Our client in Puyallup, WA is currently hiring for a CAD Drafter / Designer. This position is a hybrid opportunity based out of the Puyallup site. The role is a 24-month contract with the possibility of conversion to a full-time position with a large utility company in the Greater Seattle Area.

Pay

$35.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on years of experience, tenure, software proficiency, and relevant job titles.

Standard Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Create and update sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using CAD software.
  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D models based on customer requirements, engineering specifications, and design standards.
  • Prepare engineering plans, designs, specifications, and standards to support project objectives.
  • Develop and prepare engineering studies to support program objectives and investment planning.
  • Identify, conduct, and document research related to system compliance requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates and project evaluations.
  • Coordinate directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements.
  • Create and update job work orders and project documentation, including tasks, calculations, and reports.
  • Conduct office and field research, measurement, and verification of equipment data.
  • Create and maintain accurate equipment records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate work performed by contractors or consultants on specific assignments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve department standards, processes, templates, and tools.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to team members and customers.
  • Review simple project work completed by others and provide basic technical guidance.

Qualification Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience using CAD software.
  • Strong drafting and design skills.
  • Ability to create and update detailed 2D and 3D models.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications.
  • Familiarity with drafting techniques, engineering concepts, and terminology.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently to solve problems.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus.

Disqualifiers

  • No CAD drafting or design experience.
  • Inability to read or interpret engineering drawings or blueprints.
  • No experience supporting engineering, utility, or infrastructure-related projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
