Job Description
This role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable infrastructure that supports complex data pipelines and distributed systems. You will build and optimize CI/CD workflows, manage containerized and Kubernetes-based environments, and ensure reliable, performant systems on Google Cloud Platform. The position requires close collaboration with engineering and data teams to streamline deployment processes, enhance observability, and support data operations across relational databases and lakehouse architectures.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure to support data pipelines and distributed systems.
- Build, optimize, and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Manage containerized environments using Docker and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes in production.
- Develop and maintain data pipeline integrations leveraging streaming and messaging systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Implement log ingestion, parsing, and monitoring solutions using Logstash and Grok.
- Support and optimize systems running on Google Cloud Platform, focusing on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Work with Python-based tooling to support automation, infrastructure, and data operations.
- Manage and support data across relational database management systems (RDBMS) and data lakehouse environments.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform thorough root cause analysis, and implement robust long-term fixes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to streamline deployment processes and improve data operations.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure where applicable.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering with exposure to data engineering and data pipelines.
- Strong experience working with Linux systems in production environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Docker-based deployments.
- Proven experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production.
- Proficiency with Python for tooling, automation, and data-related workflows.
- Working knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Working knowledge of data lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with streaming and messaging systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Experience with log processing and monitoring tools, including Logstash and Grok.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Solid experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Google BigQuery.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure environments.
- Exposure to multi-cloud infrastructure and hybrid deployment models.
- Experience supporting data-intensive applications and distributed systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and data teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility to work from your preferred location while collaborating closely with distributed engineering and data teams. You will work in a modern cloud-native environment centered on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Logstash, and Grok.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $64.00/hr.
