Environmental Seller‑Doer (Consulting Engineer / Geologist)
Location: Southern California (Hybrid) Type: Full‑Time | Growth‑Focused Leadership Role
The Opportunity
An established, employee‑owned environmental consulting firm is seeking a seller‑doer to help grow and expand its environmental practice in Southern California.
This is not a delivery‑only senior project role.
The primary objective of this position is to originate new work, bring existing client relationships to the firm, and own those accounts from pursuit through delivery. Technical execution is important for credibility and retention---but success is measured first by revenue generation and client growth.
You'll partner directly with firm leadership, gaining visibility, autonomy, and support as you build and expand a sustainable book of business.
What You'll Do
Business Development & Client Ownership (Primary Focus)
- Originate and close new environmental consulting work
- Bring existing client relationships and actively grow them within the firm
- Own client relationships end‑to‑end---from pursuit through execution
- Expand accounts through add‑on scopes and repeat work
- Be accountable for revenue growth and client expansion outcomes
Technical & Project Leadership (Supporting Focus)
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership to deliver work you sell
- Oversee environmental projects to ensure quality, schedule, and client satisfaction
- Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and external stakeholders
- Maintain credibility with clients, regulators, and project teams
How Success Is Measured
- ~$500K in client‑generated revenue in Year 1, primarily from existing relationships
- $1M in revenue growth by Year 2
- Strength, retention, and expansion of client relationships
- Quality execution supporting sold work
What We're Looking For
Required
- Proven seller‑doer experience in consulting or professional services
- Demonstrated ability to personally originate and close work
- Existing client relationships you can bring and grow
- Comfort being measured on revenue outcomes, not utilization
- Strong client‑facing communication and relationship management skills
Nice to Have
- Environmental consulting background
- Experience as an engineer or geologist (discipline is flexible)
- PE or PG (a plus, not required)
- Experience in employee‑owned or consulting firm environments
Note: This role is not a fit for delivery‑only project managers or candidates who have supported business development but have not personally originated work or owned client relationships.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120,000.00 - $184,000.00/yr.
