Mechanical Engineer -- Nuclear Design
Job Type: Contract‑to‑Hire | Location: Fully Remote (ET or CT)
Pay: $43.27--$60.10/hr
Overview
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer with proven nuclear design experience to help modernize U.S. nuclear power plants---working on safety‑critical systems for a globally recognized energy leader known for scale, innovation, and stability.
Nuclear design experience is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design and analysis for nuclear power plant systems
- Define performance specifications aligned with nuclear codes and regulations
- Conduct engineering studies, modeling, and evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and plant stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance on designs, methods, and deliverables
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience designing in the nuclear industry (required)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET‑accredited)
- 4--12 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of nuclear codes, standards, and QA requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with utility Engineering Change Control (ECC)
- Familiarity with Nuclear Quality Assurance standards
- Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $60.10/hr.
