About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Scala Engineer to join our pioneering team working on a greenfield AI buildout. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-funded startup that is redefining how users interact with intelligent systems. As a core member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in designing and scaling our next-generation AI platform. Your expertise will help build robust backend services, APIs, and microservices that support complex AI workflows, data processing, and inference engines. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend development with extensive experience in Scala programming. A solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud infrastructure is essential. Proficiency in Python is also desirable, given the tech stack. Candidates should have prior experience working with frameworks such as Akka, Play, or ZIO, and familiarity with build tools like SBT. Knowledge of AWS cloud services, Docker, Kafka, and Postgres is required to efficiently manage infrastructure and data pipelines. A proven track record of developing scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices in a fast-paced environment is preferred. Responsibilities

As a Backend Scala Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing scalable Scala-based services capable of handling high-throughput data processing and AI orchestration tasks.
• Developing APIs and microservices to support inference pipelines, data ingestion, and model lifecycle management.
• Collaborating closely with machine learning engineers to productize AI models into reliable, production-ready services.
• Contributing to overall system architecture, including database design, data flow, and integration strategies.
• Implementing CI/CD automation pipelines to ensure efficient deployment and continuous integration of new features.
• Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing backend services for scalability and reliability.
