Primary Purpose

The Software Engineer II (Marketing Technology) contributes to the creation of high-quality, innovative, and fully functional software solutions that adhere to coding standards and technical design. This role will contribute to the research, design, development and implementation of new software solutions in addition to enhancing existing software capabilities. This role will also collaborate with other Squad members, stakeholders and the Product team to ensure that products meet business, functional, and technical requirements and are scalable in nature.

This role drives digital marketing innovation by designing, developing, and implementing advanced solutions within our Marketing and Ad Technology ecosystem, focusing on our data warehouse, data syncing pipelines to marketing and advertising platforms, and our customer data platform (CDP).

Work Schedule

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, and Chicago, IL. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop the technical design for solutions based on the defined scope, requirements, and functional design.
  • Build and configure technical components (interfaces, conversions, reports, workflows).
  • Write and document programming code to meet the gathered requirements.
  • Deliver solutions through SaaS solutions (e.g. Hightouch, Segment, Data Bricks, Snowflake, etc).
  • Perform code reviews and quality assurance to ensure compliance to technical standards.
  • Collaborate with Squad to support the Product team to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare development and test environments and conduct testing.
  • Fix bugs identified during quality assurance and testing.
  • Continuously reduce technical debt and decommission legacy applications.
  • Perform updates and enhancements to the solution, as needed.
  • Release software into production and perform release testing.
  • Participate in initiatives for improving way of working in teams.
  • Develop solutions to moderately complex technical issues.
  • Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas.
  • Work to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
  • Ensure operational stability of a 24/7/365 grocery retail environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Technical field; equivalent trainings/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered.
  • 3 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology.
  • Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer.
  • Experience designing interactive applications.
  • Ability to develop software in JavaScript, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, etc).
  • Experience developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (e.g. Angular, React, Django, Express).
  • Experience with test-driven development.
  • Ability to document requirements and specifications.
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in relevant field of study preferred.
  • Experience in Agile teams and or Product/Platform based operating model.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with customer data platforms (e.g., Hightouch, Segment, Adobe Real-Time CDP, or Salesforce CDP).
  • Experience integrating data with marketing and ad platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads, LiveRamp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Braze).
  • Experience with audience segmentation, identity resolution, or data enrichment techniques in a marketing context.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), and consent management.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and data quality monitoring/observability tools.
  • Experience in retail or grocery preferred.

Salary Range

$101,360 - $152,040
