Scrum Master (Contract)
Location: REMOTE
Rate Range: $35-$40/hr on W2 without benefits (negotiable based on experience, education, location, and other factors)
Position Summary:
This role is designed for a highly flexible Scrum Master who can quickly support work across varied domains without requiring deep subject matter expertise in each area. The Scrum Master will facilitate and coach Agile Scrum practices, promote effective collaboration, and ensure teams deliver high quality outcomes in research driven, innovative, and technically complex environments.
In addition to core Scrum Master responsibilities, this role may occasionally include hands on Development Team tasks (such as preparing documentation and approvals related to AI capabilities or research studies) and limited Product Owner support, reflecting the realities of agile work within Assessment Engineering.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a comparable Agile delivery role.
- Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum principles and practices.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using Jira or Smartsheet for agile planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, including engaging senior staff and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to adapt Scrum practices to research-driven, exploratory, or evolving work.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to managing delivery against timelines and agreed-upon goals.
- Agile or Scrum certification (e.g., CSM, PSM) preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, data science or statistics, computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working in educational, assessment, or research environments where AI tools are used to support work such as scoring, analytics, quality monitoring, or operational decision-making is preferred.
