Japanese Language Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

We're looking for Japanese language experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on Japanese-language content. Your linguistic insight and teaching expertise will directly shape how AI understands, generates, and teaches Japanese — making a real impact on one of the world's most fascinating languages.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
  • Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+.
  • Identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps with expert judgment.
  • Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Japanese.
  • Provide structured feedback that directly improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native fluency in Japanese.
  • Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language.
  • Strong written communication skills in both Japanese and English (C1/C2).
  • Solid familiarity with CEFR frameworks and learner speech patterns.
  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment.
  • No prior AI experience required.

  • Experience with language assessment, curriculum design, or standardized testing.
  • Exposure to AI-powered language tools or educational technology.
  • Comfort working independently in structured, asynchronous workflows.
