Job description
About The Role
What does it mean for an AI to truly understand ethics, metaphysics, or the diversity of human belief? That's the question you'll help answer.
We're looking for experts in philosophy, theology, and religious studies to evaluate and improve AI systems tackling some of humanity's most profound topics --- from moral reasoning and epistemology to comparative religion and applied ethics. Your scholarly insight will directly shape how AI engages with these subjects at a level of depth and nuance that actually matters.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. Work on your own schedule, from anywhere.
What You'll Do
- Review AI-generated content on philosophy, ethics, theology, and religious traditions for accuracy, nuance, and scholarly rigor
- Identify factual errors, logical fallacies, misrepresentations of belief systems, or oversimplifications of complex arguments
- Evaluate whether AI responses demonstrate appropriate sensitivity to diverse worldviews and traditions
- Provide clear, structured feedback on reasoning quality and argumentative depth
- Craft expert-level prompts and model reference answers to train AI on philosophical and theological topics
- Work independently and asynchronously --- no meetings, no fixed hours
Who You Are
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in philosophy, theology, religious studies, ethics, or a closely related field --- OR 3 years of professional experience teaching, writing, or researching in these areas
- Strong command of major philosophical traditions, world religions, or ethical frameworks
- Ability to assess logical coherence, argumentative structure, and factual claims with precision
- Excellent written communication skills with a sensitivity to nuance
- Comfortable engaging objectively with diverse and sometimes sensitive subject matter
- No prior AI experience required
Nice To Have
- Graduate-level education (MA, MDiv, PhD) in philosophy, theology, or religious studies
- Published research, teaching experience, or professional writing in these fields
- Familiarity with comparative religion, applied ethics, or history of philosophy
- Experience with academic peer review or editorial work
Why This Role
- Meaningful work --- your expertise directly influences how AI handles ethics, belief, and moral reasoning at scale
- Fully remote and flexible --- set your own hours and work from wherever you choose
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading research labs
- Autonomy --- task-based, asynchronous work that fits around your life
- Ongoing opportunity --- strong performers are considered for contract extensions and additional projects
- Rare opportunity to apply deep humanistic scholarship to one of the most consequential technologies of our time
