Company Description
Alora James Personal & Engineering Consulting is a professional services firm delivering tailored IT, engineering, and technical consulting solutions to clients across the public and private sectors --- including government agencies, transit authorities, municipalities, and enterprise organizations. We operate on a lean, high-performance model: we do what we do best in-house and bring in the right specialists when contracts demand it. Our consultants work directly with clients to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables, providing practical, results-driven support from kickoff through closeout. Every engagement is built on clear communication, accountability, and a commitment to delivering on time and within scope. We value professionals who take ownership of their work, communicate proactively, and hold themselves to the same standard they hold their teams.
Role Description
This is a remote, contract-based (1099) opportunity with Alora James Personal & Engineering Consulting. Engagements are project-specific and may transition to an ongoing retainer arrangement for qualified candidates who demonstrate consistent performance. There is no guaranteed minimum hours commitment --- work is activated as contracts are awarded. Contractors on retainer will receive first right of refusal on new engagements as they come in.
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of IT, engineering, and consulting projects --- ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsibilities include defining project timelines, resource plans, and milestones; tracking progress against schedules; coordinating with internal consultants, clients, and external partners; leading project meetings; preparing status reports; and managing risks, issues, and constraints through timely resolution. The PM will work closely with technical leads, logistics and integration stakeholders, inspection teams where applicable, and client representatives to maintain full alignment on specifications, deliverables, and quality standards.
Weekly virtual check-ins with the firm's Principal Consultant are required on all active engagements. Check-ins are conducted via video call with screen share and are non-negotiable. Contractors who are not responsive or miss scheduled check-ins without advance notice will not be considered for future activations.
Qualifications
- PMP certification is required. Candidates without an active PMP will not be considered.
- Strong project leadership skills including scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management across technical or engineering engagements.

- Inspection coordination experience, including reviewing inspection reports and verifying conformance with technical and contractual requirements.
- Logistics management experience --- coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and collaborating with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and clients, both in writing and verbally, in a remote work environment.

- Proficiency with standard project management tools and platforms (MS Project or equivalent, Microsoft 365, Teams, and collaboration tools).
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field --- or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in engineering, IT consulting, government contracting, or technical professional services environments preferred.
- Professional references are required. A minimum of two verifiable professional references must be submitted with your application. References will be contacted prior to any offer of engagement.
