Job description

About Ambitus AI

Ambitus AI is an applied-AI product and research company. Our work helps frontier labs and top enterprises train, test, and deploy AI agents that automate high ROI tasks.

We're a highly technical team based in San Francisco with backgrounds from Mercor, Google, Stanford, and more.

As a Finite Element Analysis Specialist, you'd help us create training data for a project with one of the world's top AI labs.

Your role

As a Finite Element Analysis Specialist, you will apply your professional experience in simulation engineering and FEA to help design, execute, and evaluate realistic analysis workflows. The core objective of this role is to translate real, day-to-day simulation reasoning into structured tasks and evaluations, enabling AI systems to learn how experienced analysts set up meshes, apply boundary conditions, run solvers, and interpret results with sound engineering judgment.

Compensation

  • Compensation: $70-100/hour
  • Commitment: 15-25 hours per week
  • Type: Contract, part-time
  • Location: Fully remote

What you'll do

  • Execute tasks within Salome Meca to validate feasibility and establish ground-truth solutions
  • Write detailed task specifications for FEA workflows, including clear prompts, expected outputs, and grading criteria
  • Perform static structural, thermal, and modal analyses; evaluate designs against yield and deflection criteria; and produce annotated result visualizations and simulation reports
  • Define grading rubrics that assess both technical execution (e.g., valid input decks, correct element types, clean solver convergence) and analytical judgment (e.g., mesh refinement near stress concentrations, sanity-checking results, safety factor interpretation)
  • Provide clear, written documentation of your workflows, reasoning, and quality assessments

What we're looking for

We are specifically seeking experienced simulation engineers and FEA analysts with strong analytical rigor and hands-on production experience.

Relevant Backgrounds

  • Proficiency and fluency with Salome Meca, Abaqus, ANSYS, Nastran, or similar FEA solvers
  • Simulation engineers, FEA analysts, or structural/mechanical engineers working in industry or consulting
  • Freelance analysts with a portfolio of completed structural, thermal, or modal analyses
  • Hands-on experience with geometry import, meshing, boundary condition/load application, and post-processing
  • Familiarity with mesh convergence studies and design validation against engineering criteria
