Job description

About Studiobac

We are designing Studiobac, an AI-powered learning platform that helps French high school students excel in the baccalauréat. Our first module supports French essay writing through personalized feedback. We are preparing for a pre-launch in September 2026.

The interface must combine the seriousness of academic literary work with the appeal of a product teenagers want to use, incorporating gamification elements like XP, streaks, and mastery badges to support pedagogy.

This is a fully remote, full-time freelance mandate for 3 to 4 months, with compensation ranging from $60 to $90 per hour depending on experience. We offer a flexible schedule.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Proven experience designing digital products from the ground up with a strong product and systems-thinking approach.
  • Ability to work within an existing brand direction, editorial framework, and early technical prototype.
  • Creative profile capable of proposing original ideas, defending design decisions, and iterating based on feedback and user insight.
  • Strong command of mobile-first design, with the ability to adapt to tablet and desktop contexts.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility principles (WCAG 2.1 AA target).
  • Experience preparing production-ready deliverables: high-fidelity Figma files, design tokens, responsive specifications, and motion guidelines.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating design choices clearly.
  • Familiarity with design systems and component-based workflows, specifically shadcn/ui.
  • Experience conducting user interviews with students, teachers, and parents is highly valued.
  • Availability for a 3 to 4-month full-time commitment.
  • Experience in educational products or youth-focused digital experiences is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design key product experiences: onboarding, micro-skill exercises, three-part feedback views, the rewrite loop, and personal progress areas.
  • Evolve the design system by refining motion guidance, dark mode, illustration style, iconography, and empty, error, and loading states.
  • Ensure the interface integrates cleanly with shadcn/ui and aligns with technical direction.
  • Conduct user interviews to ground design decisions in real user needs.
  • Prioritize a mobile-first approach while adapting experiences for tablet and desktop.
  • Embed accessibility considerations throughout the process and verify contrast across token pairs.
  • Prepare production assets, including Figma files, design token documentation, handoff materials, and specifications.
  • Collaborate weekly with the team via Slack and present design choices clearly to incorporate feedback.
