Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. This role offers remote/hybrid work flexibility.

Responsibilities

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for:

• Design projects
• Developing design calculations using standard and advanced analysis (FEA) techniques
• Developing drawings and specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry, with an emphasis on seismic design.
• Supporting the Oak Ridge, TN office with some travel.

Qualifications

Required:

• Sole U.S. citizenship
• B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school
• 5+ years of post-education experience
• Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry, with an emphasis on seismic design
• Experience implementing local and national codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7
• Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure procedural compliance
• Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
• Proficiency with finite element software (e.g., STAAD.pro)
• Competence using Microsoft Office software
• Ability to learn new software as necessary

Preferred:

• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation software
• A PE license with the ability to obtain a new state license
• Experience delivering projects from conceptual to detailed design, including calculations, numerical modeling, drawing development, specification development, and construction support
• Knowledge of nuclear codes (e.g., DOE 1020, AISC N690, ACI 349)
• Residing within a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office
• DOE Q clearance
• DOE experience

Work Location

This position is preferred to be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN, with remote/hybrid options available.

• Hybrid: For individuals within 50 miles of Oak Ridge, TN or Denver, CO, a minimum of 2 days per week in the office is required.
• Remote: For individuals outside of 50 miles, remote work is available with quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office.
• All remote and hybrid employees must provide and work in a secured location within the United States, approved by the company.

Essential Functions

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting (up to 20 lbs. for 50 feet).
• Hand manipulation for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Occasional reaching above or below the shoulder.
• No foot controls required.
• Must be alert to equipment in the field.
• Occasional travel to construction job sites.
• Work near construction job site equipment, hazardous equipment, and machinery.
• Occasional work on uneven ground.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature/humidity extremes, and potential work at heights.
• Standard office PC with software will be provided.

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

• Appropriate grooming and dress that does not impose a safety risk.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and background check.

Compensation

$88,000 - $125,000 annually.
