Job Description

Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their team in Seattle, WA. This is a full-time, direct-hire role offering a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must possess previous trial experience and proficiency with Relativity.

Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Serve as the focal point for litigation team communications and project status tracking.
  • Coordinate with secretaries and docketing personnel to maintain accurate calendar systems.
  • Oversee the creation, indexing, and maintenance of complex case files and document collections.
  • Proofread legal memoranda for accuracy, ensuring citations comply with The Bluebook or specific court requirements.
  • Manage court filings in paper or electronic form.

Research & Discovery

  • Perform complex legal and fact research; prepare memoranda or summaries.
  • Manage special document collections, including witness files and expert reliance documents.
  • Draft initial discovery requests, responses, pleadings, and memoranda.
  • Assist in document collection, tracking, and coordination with litigation support for electronic files.
  • Conduct witness and file custodian interviews.
  • Retain and manage vendors for document production and review; conduct quality control.
  • Draft privilege logs and conduct initial document reviews for responsiveness and privilege.
  • Prepare deposition exhibits and manage deposition transcripts.

Preparation for and Assistance at Trial or Other Proceedings

  • Assist with trial, arbitration, mediation, or deposition proceedings, including preparing exhibit/witness lists and trial briefs.
  • Coordinate logistics with court personnel and opposing counsel.
  • Manage courtroom technology in coordination with vendors and internal staff.
  • Provide on-site support during proceedings, including managing exhibits and summarizing testimony.

Administrative Tasks

  • Accurately record billable time in accordance with firm and client protocols.
  • Submit time records promptly according to firm deadlines.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

  • 5 years of paralegal experience.
  • Previous trial experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree and paralegal program completion, or equivalent knowledge and skill.
  • Knowledge of court and agency procedures and rules.
  • Strong time and task management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in legal research and document review databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, Relativity, IPRO).
  • Experience with trial support software (e.g., Trial Director, OnCue) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in complex commercial litigation across multiple jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel on occasion.
