Job Description
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE 1040/1041 EXPERIENCE
The Senior Fiduciary Accountant is responsible for the accurate preparation and timely filing of fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax returns, with an emphasis on complex tax returns. This role also provides backup support for the Director of Tax Services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare timely fiduciary, gift tax, foundation, partnership, and personal tax returns, focusing on complex filings and problem resolution.
- Work closely with the Director in a supportive and collaborative manner.
- Serve as a resource for junior tax accountants.
- Provide backup coverage for the Director when necessary.
- Communicate directly with department clients as authorized and review the tax preparation work of other accountants.
- Provide expert tax advice to the Director, other accountants, and department clients, including Private Client Department partners.
- Participate in the new hire interview process and provide input on performance reviews for junior staff and support staff.
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Taxation preferred.
- 7 years of experience as a fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax preparer, including all phases of tax preparation and analysis.
- Prior experience in a mid-size or larger professional environment is preferred.
- Ability to handle complex tax preparations with minimal supervision.
- Experience with ProSystem-fx and Onesource Trust Tax software.
Additional Skills/Experience
- Advanced knowledge of applicable tax codes and updates.
- High proficiency with tax preparation hardware and software.
- Strong independent working skills with the ability to initiate and complete projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with staff and lawyers.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, work independently, participate in team projects, maintain accurate records, and work well under pressure.
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and committed to strict confidentiality.
