Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-impact, mission-critical initiative focused on modernizing and enhancing core banking platform integrations. As a Senior Java Application Developer, you'll play a key role in designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performing applications that power complex distributed systems.

You'll work alongside highly skilled engineering teams, contributing your expertise in microservices, APIs, and enterprise-level application development, while shaping solutions that directly influence performance, reliability, and user experience at scale.

  • Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based)
  • Assignment Type: Contract Only
  • Duration: ~12 Months

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize robust software solutions using Java/J2EE and modern frameworks
  • Build and enhance APIs and microservices using REST and SOAP architectures
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions across the full SDLC
  • Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code following best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies and meet delivery timelines
  • Implement efficient data structures and algorithms to improve system performance
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release processes
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor team members to maintain code quality
  • Support continuous improvement through collaboration, feedback, and innovation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in software/application development
  • Strong expertise in Java/J2EE, XML, OpenAPI, Maven, and ANT
  • Proven experience building APIs, web services, and microservices (REST/SOAP)
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and scalable system design
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with testing, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WebSphere deployments
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible
  • Exposure to mainframe technologies (COBOL, CICS, z/OS)
  • Experience within financial services environments

Compensation and Benefits

The pay rate for this position is between $60.00 and $77.00 per hour. Please note that the final rate may be contingent on experience and other factors.
