Role Overview

The primary function of a software engineer is to apply computer science and mathematical analysis principles to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of software and systems. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops, and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for various applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve modifications to existing databases and database management systems.
• Instruct staff on writing and coding logical and physical database descriptions and specifying database identifiers to the management system.
• Direct database development and approve project scope and limitations.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost for project completion.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files.
• Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
• Develop standards and guidelines for software usage, acquisition, and protection of vulnerable information.

Required Qualifications

Education

A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.

Skills

• Verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Mentoring skills for providing support and constructive performance feedback.
• Proficiency in the full software development lifecycle: business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement necessary system changes.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
• Familiarity with computer development software such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.

• Compensation: $92 - $102 hourly
