Arapahoe County Child and Adult Protection Services positions are hybrid and require 3 days in the office, which could be at either the Aurora or Littleton location.

Position Summary
This position is specific to a Permanency Social Caseworker. The Caseworker is responsible for working with families involved in the child welfare system. You will provide continued assessment of needs and safety, recommend and implement services, and assist families in building a positive support network and sustainability with the goal of permanency and well-being for the children, youth, and family.
Duties
- Provide professional case management by working with families and professionals to assess safety, address root causes, monitor progress, and identify barriers to permanency.
- Collaborate with collaterals such as law enforcement, medical personnel, CASA's, GAL's, treatment providers, schools, and family support networks.
- Establish rapport with families, attend meetings, and provide timely communication and documentation.
- Complete monthly face-to-face contacts with children and families.
- Manage case-specific documentation, including family service plans, court reports, and placement paperwork.
- Attend and testify in court hearings as necessary.
- Participate in scheduled supervision, team meetings, and professional development.

- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume environment while handling high-stress situations professionally.
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Effective communication skills for professional correspondence and court testimony.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer systems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a human behavioral science field (including at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours in human behavior science) plus one year of professional casework/human services experience, or a completed child welfare internship.
- A master's degree in social work or a related human behavioral science field meets requirements without experience.
- Alternative education/experience combinations may be considered.
Pre-Employment and Post-Employment Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment testing, including a motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
- Valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License required.
- Must complete the Colorado Pre-Service Training Academy program and maintain Child Welfare Certification through annual training.
- Position is deemed essential; staff must be available for emergency events and potential on-call rotation.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work involves 20-40% travel for home visits and client transport.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs.
- Work may occur in environments where the incumbent is threatened with physical harm.
