About the Role
Walter Shuffain is seeking a fully remote Controller to join our expanding CAAS team. As a Controller at Walter Shuffain, you will be instrumental in managing key aspects of our client engagements. Essential Functions
- Develop work plans, project timelines, and key milestones.
- Perform and review core client finance and accounting operations, including account reconciliations, payroll, month-end close procedures, and financial statement preparation.
- Provide outsourced Controller services.
- Supervise a remote accounting staff, including training.
- Communicate effectively and frequently with client contacts.
- Identify client issues and deficiencies, and recommend solutions.
- Manage day-to-day client engagements and team oversight.
- Onboard new clients.
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Review client financial information and general ledger details for completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
- Prepare financial statements and key management reports.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- 8 years of demonstrated experience in a CAS practice of a CPA firm, private industry accounting, or a combination.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA license preferred.
- Proven ability to manage projects and people in a remote or hybrid setting.
- Experience with real estate, family office, or high-net-worth clients is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines without compromising accuracy or responsiveness.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- High degree of organization, self-direction, and accountability, with effective workload management for a remote role.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role at Walter Shuffain. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and skill level.
