About the Role

We are seeking a leader to drive growth within the Oil, Gas, and Energy (OGE) market segment. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing a focused growth strategy centered on precision tolerance, value-added round barstock solutions used across upstream, midstream, and downstream applications.

  • This role carries both short-term commercial responsibility and longer-term leadership development expectations.
  • Over a 3-5 year horizon, the successful candidate will drive measurable business growth while also helping to develop and mentor future and existing sales professionals within the organization.
  • The position is fully remote, with significant customer-facing travel, and requires deep familiarity with the OGE supply chain ecosystem and high-volume, mission-critical end users.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Drive new business development within the OGE sector, focusing on Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supply chains and high-volume end users.
  • Identify, pursue, and win opportunities where reliable, repeatable, and readily available round bar products and value-added services are critical.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with OEMs, large machine shops, service centers, and contract manufacturers serving OGE markets.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable growth strategies, target accounts, and prioritization plans.

Technical & Commercial Leadership

  • Provide technical credibility in customer discussions, with hands-on understanding of:
    • Steel and alloy grades
    • Diameters and tolerances
    • Heat treat conditions
    • End-use applications
    • Common value-added processing requirements (e.g., precision tolerance, cut-to-length, testing, certifications, logistics solutions)
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers by aligning material solutions with performance, reliability, and supply continuity needs.

Team Development & Organizational Impact

  • Support and develop existing sales talent; contribute to the identification and onboarding of future sales professionals.
  • Establish best practices for market-focused selling in OGE segments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure execution aligns with customer commitments.
  • Provide leadership visibility and input into longer-term strategic planning for the OGE vertical.

Required Experience

  • Proven track record of business development success within oil, gas, and energy markets.
  • Demonstrated experience selling round barstock into OGE-related applications, preferably with precision tolerance and value-added processing.
  • Strong familiarity with OGE supply chains (Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3) and how purchasing, qualification, and sourcing decisions are made.
  • Technical understanding sufficient to confidently discuss grades, metallurgy, heat treatment, dimensional requirements, and end-use performance.
  • Experience selling into higher-volume environments where consistency, reliability, and repeatability are essential.

Leadership & Professional Traits

  • Executive presence with the ability to operate credibly at both customer C-suite and shop-floor levels.
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute tactically.
  • Comfortable working remotely with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively (approximately 60%).
  • Track record of mentoring, coaching, or developing sales professionals over time.

Geographic Preference

  • Texas-based candidates strongly preferred, with established market knowledge, relationships, and understanding of the regional OGE landscape.

Salary and Other Compensation

The salary for this position is between $180,000 - $200,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Benefits

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, personal days, 12-15 days of paid vacation, 6-8 weeks of paid parental leave, 9 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, Ascendion Learning Management System, and Tuition Reimbursement Program.
