Snowflake Data Modeler - Clinical Research Exp | Snowflake and DBT - Remote Contract Position

About the Job

We are looking for a hands-on Snowflake Data Modeler with Clinical Research Organization (CRO) experience to design and build scalable, well-governed data models that power our clinical trial analytics. You will be the go-to expert for data architecture on Snowflake, working closely with clinical, data engineering, and regulatory teams to deliver high-quality, compliant data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models (Star Schema, Data Vault 2.0, 3NF) on Snowflake.
• Build and maintain dbt models across staging, integration, and mart layers with full testing and documentation.
• Define Snowflake architecture standards — schemas, RBAC, clustering, naming conventions, and layering.
• Implement data quality checks, SCD strategies, and end-to-end data lineage for clinical datasets.
• Align data models with CDISC standards (CDASH, SDTM, ADaM) and GxP / 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
• Partner with clinical operations, biostatistics, and QA to translate business needs into robust data designs.
• Lead data model reviews, establish CoE best practices, and mentor the data engineering team.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience.
• 7 years in data modeling with 6 years hands-on Snowflake experience.
• Expert in dimensional modeling, Data Vault 2.0, and Snowflake-native design patterns.
• Strong dbt skills — models, tests, macros, incremental strategies, CI/CD.
• Advanced SQL proficiency including window functions, CTEs, and query optimization.
• Must have familiarity with CDISC standards and clinical trial data structures in a CRO or life sciences setting.
• Experience with ERD tools (erwin, dbdiagram.io, Lucidchart) and data catalog platforms.
• Knowledge of GxP compliance and 21 CFR Part 11 data management requirements.
• Snowflake SnowPro Core or Advanced: Data Engineer certification.
• CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or dbt Certification.
• Experience with Data Vault automation (AutomateDV / dbtvault).
• Exposure to CDISC SDTM or ADaM modeling within Snowflake.
