We are looking for a strong Senior SDET / Test Automation Engineer to join a critical initiative supporting a major banking/finance application.
This is a hands-on automation-heavy role working on the Summit platform --- a core banking system that manages financial products (bonds, loans, payments, transactions) and interfaces with accounting and core banking systems.
About the Role
You will support two key workstreams:
- Maintaining and enhancing testing for core banking applications, including upgrades, defect resolution, and supporting project changes.
- Improving and optimizing nightly batch processing for performance and reliability.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced automation engineer who wants to make an immediate impact in a stable financial institution environment.
- Location: Hybrid in Chicago -- 3 days onsite preferred. Strong remote candidates will also be considered.
- Duration: 6 months contract with strong likelihood of extension
- Start: ASAP / Early June
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5--7+ years of Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or Test Automation experience
- Strong C# and Selenium expertise
- Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch
- Postman experience for API/backend testing (this role is heavily backend-focused)
- Recent experience working in banking or a financial institution
- Heavy automation focus (70%+ automation vs manual testing)
Key Technical Skills
- Selenium WebDriver with C#
- Postman / API testing
- Test framework design and architecture
- Azure DevOps (for test case management and defect tracking)
- SQL and understanding of batch processes
- Agile / SDLC knowledge

Interview Process
- Round 1: 30-minute Teams call with Hiring Manager
- Final Round: 1-hour technical interview with the team (virtual or in-person welcome)
