North Dallas - Hybrid | Advisory-Driven | Real Leadership Seat
Base Comp to $145K + Bonus + 100% Employer Paid Benefits
Our client is a 35-person advisory firm in North Dallas built on a straightforward belief - clients deserve a proactive financial partner, not a once-a-year tax preparer.
They are adding a Tax Manager to lead delivery on a defined client book, manage and develop a team of associates and managers, and partner directly with the COO and Tax Director on firm strategy.
This is not a backroom review role. It is a leadership seat with real client visibility and a culture that is focused on killing the old-school grind mentality.
Why This Role is Different
Leadership that actually leads
You will see the work, know the people, and be present enough to build something. Hybrid here means 3-4 days in office - not a loophole for doing everything remotely.
Built in-house, start to finish
No outsourcing. Prep, planning, and projects are done by the team you lead. Quality is a cultural standard, not a checkbox.
Real runway for growth
This role is open because the current tax leader is moving up. The path in front of you is clear and the firm has the appetite to develop it.
Busy season managed by design
Capacity planning is built into how this firm operates. You will not be expected to outwork a broken system. The model is designed to not break you.
What You Will Do
- Lead delivery for a defined client book across complex business returns, predominantly pass-through entities (S Corps, partnerships) and high-net-worth individuals
- Manage staffing, workflow, and deadlines so the team delivers at a high level without chaos or burnout
- Review complex returns and workpapers, and translate findings for clients in clear, confident language
- Coach and develop managers and associates on technical depth, client communication, and ownership mentality
- Run point on tax planning, estimates, and IRS notice responses for your client base
- Partner with the COO and Tax Director on resourcing, pricing, process improvements, and firm growth initiatives
- Use modern communication and workflow tools to keep projects moving without unnecessary friction
What You Bring
- EA or CPA required
- 8-10 years minimum in public accounting tax, with at least 5 years at the Manager level or above
- Strong pass-through, closely held business, and high-net-worth individual tax experience
- A client-facing presence that inspires confidence - you simplify complexity without dumbing it down
- Proven ability to manage people and deadlines across multiple clients without losing your composure or your standards
- High ownership, high integrity, and a bias toward getting things done rather than talking about getting things done
Note: Title is the starting point, not the ceiling. Our client cares more about trajectory and capacity than what your current business card says.
Compensation and Path
- Base Salary: $115,000 - $140,000 depending on experience
- Bonus: Performance-based, tied to defined KPIs with 90-day checkpoint built in
- Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 to 4 days per week in the North Dallas office
If you are ready to lead a modern tax practice without the grind, the politics, or the management-by-fear mentality - and you want to actually see the team you are building - reach out and let's talk about whether this is the right next step for you.
