About the Role

Black & Veatch is seeking a Sr. Project Engineering Manager to join our Campus Infrastructure business. In this role, you will lead large, multi-discipline design teams for complex data center projects, serving as a technical specialist and Owner's representative.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution

  • Prepare complex architectural and engineering deliverables, including schematic design, detailed design, permitting, and construction documents.
  • Oversee scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and safety performance.
  • Coordinate interfaces across power generation, electrical infrastructure, data center, and interconnection scopes.
  • Support change management, claims avoidance, and commercial risk alignment.
  • Conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection.

Client Interface

  • Act as the primary client interface for day-to-day coordination and issue resolution.
  • Understand key client interests and drivers to develop effective solutions.
  • Support business development and pursuit activities.
  • Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead large, multi-disciplined teams (civil, architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecom, security, and BIM).
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership on projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Drive solutions to achieve project goals and provide guidance on design standards, codes, and policies.

Management Responsibilities

  • Review architect and engineering work assignments.
  • Mentor and manage the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Partner with PM, scheduling, cost, and risk resources to maintain integrated master schedules, cost forecasts, and risk registers.
  • Provide executive-level reporting to clients and internal leadership.
  • Coordinate integrated testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience managing complex infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in Owner's Representative, PMC, or Owner's Engineer roles.
  • Strong background in mega project execution, risk mitigation, and EPC coordination.
  • Understanding of design differences in hyper-scale, edge, and colocation data centers.
  • Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country is typically required.
