Head of AI | Remote | $300,000 - $620,000 base salary + Pre-IPO Equity

The company

A well-funded Series D AI company with nine-figure investment and a multi-billion dollar valuation. The investors behind this business carry real weight in the AI and enterprise space. The team is intentionally small and senior, the product is at an inflection point, and the people joining now will have a level of influence that simply will not exist twelve months from now.

The role

This is not a management role with distance from the work. You will own the AI roadmap, set architectural direction, and stay close enough to the code that your fingerprints are on what gets built. You will lead a small team of strong engineers, but this is a role for someone who still wants to build.

What you will be doing

• Owning the end-to-end AI and ML roadmap in partnership with the founding team
• Driving architectural decisions across LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, and inference systems
• Leading post-training alignment work including RLHF, DPO, and evaluation frameworks
• Building and developing a lean team of senior AI engineers
• Setting the engineering culture and technical bar for AI across the organisation

What we are looking for

• Proven experience leading AI or ML engineering at a fast-moving, high-scale company
• Deep hands-on expertise in LLMs, transformer architectures, or retrieval systems
• The ability to move between strategic thinking and technical execution without losing quality in either
• A track record of shipping AI products that operate at real scale
• Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and low process overhead

What is on offer

• Base salary: $300,000 - $620,000. For the right candidate there is genuine flexibility above this range
• Meaningful pre-IPO equity in a company at a growth stage where the upside is real
• Performance bonus of 15-28%
