Job Summary
BCBST is seeking a Data Consultant to support Actuarial processes. This role involves producing routine and ad-hoc reports, maintaining and modifying underlying code, and collaborating with the Actuarial team to develop new reports for enhanced organizational insights.
Job Responsibilities
- Summarize findings for logical presentation and collaborate with business contacts to develop effective product and process solutions.
- Develop and maintain a database of past claims to support actuarial processes for determining health insurance premium rates.
- Analyze large volumes of complex data to identify drivers of business and industry trends.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of ad hoc data requests, presented in a clear and organized manner.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative or research-related discipline.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in reporting, data analysis, or a similar field is required.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in reporting and data analysis, proficiency in SQL, Python, and SAS Enterprise Guide, and the ability to manage multiple assignments independently. Experience with healthcare data is also preferred.
Skills and Certifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer service orientation.
- Ability to meet schedule deadlines and departmental goals.
- Must possess the ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors and other external partners.
