Job description

Devblock And Role Overview

We are a software consulting agency that builds custom web and mobile applications for clients across healthcare, e-commerce, operations and logistics, fintech, and beyond. We are looking for a Nearshore Project Manager to own software development projects from initiation through delivery — someone who turns ambiguity into a clear plan, keeps clients confident, and keeps delivery teams moving.

This is a client-facing role. You will be the steady hand clients rely on for honest answers about timeline, budget, scope, and risk, and the person your delivery team trusts to clear obstacles before they become problems. You will work across multiple projects and teams at once, so strong organization, sharp communication, and an ownership mindset are essential.

Because this is a nearshore role, you'll enjoy strong time-zone alignment with our US-based clients and teams — making real-time collaboration the norm rather than the exception. We're looking for someone who treats that alignment as an advantage and shows up as a true partner to both client and delivery team.

What You Will Do

  • Own software development projects end-to-end across multiple clients and teams, from kickoff through delivery and into follow-on phases.
  • Build and maintain project plans, coordinating deliverables, timelines, budgets, and scope so work is identified, assigned, and completed on time.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients — communicating with clarity, transparency, and confidence while ensuring they feel heard and supported.
  • Deliver regular status updates and executive-level reporting that give clients and leadership a clear, honest picture of project health.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and emerging issues early — then own the process of tracking, escalating, and pulling in the right people to resolve them.
  • Recommend and drive mitigation plans, preventing surprises for clients and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Maintain project documentation, governance, and delivery controls that keep engagements organized and auditable.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams, leadership, and clients, ensuring everyone has the context they need to do great work.
  • Monitor budget health and manage scope throughout the project lifecycle, steering change requests into the backlog rather than letting them quietly erode margin.
  • Run project ceremonies (standups, backlog refinement, planning, demos, retros) and keep communication consistent and meaningful.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to sharpen your reporting, accelerate documentation, and make project management more efficient — and help us refine how we use them.

Requirements

  • 4 years of project management experience within software development environments.
  • Strong client-facing communication and strategic presentation skills — able to set expectations, deliver hard news well, and maintain trust.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, timelines, and project scope on real engagements.
  • A proactive approach to risk: you don't just spot problems, you own identifying, tracking, escalating, and rallying the team toward resolution.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities across technical teams, leadership, and clients.
  • Experience working in agile and fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to think strategically while staying on top of day-to-day execution.
  • Strong command of AI-powered productivity and project management tools, paired with a genuine appetite for learning new ones.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Soft Skills & Behaviors Needed To Succeed

  • Balances empathy and assertiveness — can hear a client's concerns deeply while still guiding them to the right decision.
  • Creates clarity through structure and communication, and stays calm when things get uncertain.
  • Anticipates issues before they become problems.
  • Brings a consultative mindset, offering best-practice guidance rather than simply taking orders.
  • Takes ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.

Work Model

  • Fully remote, based in Latin America, with significant overlap with US business hours for real-time collaboration with clients and delivery teams.
  • Contractor engagement.
  • Occasional flexibility to coordinate with team members across other time zones as projects require.
