Position Details

  • Location: 100% Remote (Continental United States)

  • Employment Type: Full-time, direct W2 (no C2C, no 1099, no third-party)

Employment Terms

This is a 100% remote, full-time, direct W2 position with Bright Vision Technologies. This role is part of our in-house Statement of Work (SOW) engagement. We do not engage in C2C, 1099, or third-party arrangements. A technical coding assessment is mandatory.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer focused on high-throughput platform development to design, build, and operate the foundational platforms and shared services that other engineering teams rely on. This role focuses on building backend platform capabilities—request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching layers, asynchronous job execution, and durable event processing—that must handle very high traffic volumes with predictable latency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build internal platform services and shared infrastructure with a focus on developer experience.
  • Architect high-throughput, latency-sensitive backend platforms.
  • Build durable, replayable event-processing pipelines and asynchronous job execution platforms.
  • Design and operate caching, rate-limiting, and request-shaping layers.
  • Develop platform abstractions, SDKs, and paved-road libraries.
  • Establish robust observability, SLOs, and capacity-planning practices.
  • Drive multi-region, fault-tolerant, and geo-distributed designs.
  • Lead incident response and conduct blameless post-mortems.
  • Define and enforce platform-wide standards around API design and schema evolution.
  • Optimize platform performance through profiling and algorithmic improvements.
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, and SRE teams.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and lead architectural discussions.
  • Produce clear technical design documents and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
  • Track record building internal platforms or shared services.
  • Expertise in distributed systems (consistency, availability, latency).
  • Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++.
  • Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging/streaming (Kafka, Pulsar, NATS).
  • Knowledge of relational, key-value, document, and search storage systems.
  • Experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms.
  • Contributions to open-source platform or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with control-plane/data-plane patterns or service mesh internals.
  • Experience designing platform APIs with strong versioning guarantees.
