Sr. Distinguished Engineer, Global Payments

Requirements

Must have:

• Bachelors degree.
• At least 9 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience designing distributed systems.
• At least 7 years of experience working with public cloud technologies.

Preferred:

• Bachelors or masters degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering and systems design.
• 10+ years of professional coding experience in commonly used languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Swift.
• 10+ years of experience across the full system development lifecycle, from concept through design, build, testing, deployment, and production support.
• 7+ years of experience with systems that demand high performance and resiliency.
• 8+ years of experience with public or private cloud platforms.
• Experience in payments, money movement, and relevant standards such as PCI-DSS.
• Experience using interactive AI tools to boost productivity beyond basic code completion.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate a bold technical vision across multiple domains and mission-critical platforms to engineering teams, product leaders, and executive stakeholders.
• Turn complex challenges into practical, operational solutions that meet functional needs with strong performance and reliability.
• Partner with executive leaders across business, product, and technology to guide strategic investment and high-impact technical decisions.
• Accelerate the use of agentic AI to modernize our payment network by creating reusable patterns that scale AI across our engineering teams and priority initiatives.
• Raise the quality of technical design and implementation across the organization by proactively removing technical debt and reducing friction in customer experiences.
• Act as an authoritative expert on non-functional system qualities such as performance, reliability, scalability, and operability.
• Continuously learn new technologies and help drive adoption of AI-powered engineering practices across our community.
• Manage several concurrent engagements, shifting quickly between detailed technical work and broader strategic discussions to maximize value.
• Lead innovation through coaching, mentoring, and technical influence across engineering, business, and product groups.
