- Staff Engineer - Agentic AI Platform
Career Renew is recruiting for a Staff Engineer - Agentic AI Platform. This is a hybrid role based in Redwood City, CA. Salary range: $200k–$250k USD base plus benefits.
We are the Agentic HR platform for enterprise teams and the maker of Harper, the world's first AI HR generalist. We create AI agents that streamline business processes, elevate the employee experience, and free teams to focus on strategic work. Backed by $55M in venture funding from Norwest Venture Partners, True Ventures, and Shasta Ventures, we were recently named Top HR Product of 2025 by HR Executive.
We are seeking staff-level engineers who combine strong distributed systems expertise with a deep practical understanding of AI workflows and harness engineering to make GenAI systems work reliably in production.
What You'll Build
-
Scalable agentic orchestration frameworks that integrate seamlessly with enterprise systems, enabling no-code automation across complex workflows.
-
Pioneering memory architectures and retrieval systems that overcome traditional RAG limits, giving agents persistent context across multi-step processes.
-
AI harnesses that improve the reliability, evaluation, observability, and reasoning quality of LLM-powered systems, including prompt optimization, hallucination reduction, and LLM context management.
-
Domain-optimized reasoning LLMs that unlock new reasoning capabilities for nuanced business scenarios.
-
Backend infrastructure powering multi-agent workflows, human-in-the-loop systems, and intuitive UIs for seamless human-AI collaboration.
-
Tooling that enables rapid experimentation, evaluation, and deployment of AI workflows at scale.
Requirements
-
7–15 years of experience as a platform engineer (currently at Staff level, ideally with Agentic AI experience).
-
Tech lead experience driving architectural and design decisions, mentoring junior team members, and leading execution in fast-moving environments.
-
BS/MS in Computer Science or related fields.
-
Proficient in Python or Java with 3–6 months of experience using AI for everyday workflows.
-
Ideally a blend of startup and scale-up experience.
-
Experience with microservices, vector databases, asynchronous/parallel programming, and prompt engineering is a plus.
-
Strong internal motivation, mission alignment, and a collaborative, resourceful mindset.
