Job Summary

The Salesforce Technical Architect will serve as a Salesforce Application Architect supporting modernization and operational initiatives for critical Child Welfare and State Hospital systems within MDHHS, including MiSACWIS and CCWIS platforms. This role focuses on architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise-grade Salesforce solutions while ensuring scalability, security, compliance, and platform optimization.

The architect will provide technical leadership for modernization efforts involving Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Field Service Lightning (FSL), supporting systems used by thousands of users across Michigan agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Architecture & Solution Design

  • Lead end-to-end architecture and technical design of Salesforce solutions.
  • Support modernization of legacy systems into Salesforce-based platforms.
  • Design scalable solutions using Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and FSL.
  • Conduct org health assessments and recommend Salesforce best practices.
  • Participate in Design & Discovery sessions and promote Salesforce Well-Architected Framework.
  • Oversee proof-of-concepts (POCs) for technical feasibility and business validation.

Technical Leadership & Development

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure Secure Application Development Lifecycle (SADLC) practices are followed.
  • Lead development of enterprise applications, server components, and services.
  • Solve complex design and programming challenges.

Integration, Security & Compliance

  • Plan and coordinate integration between systems, agencies, and external partners.
  • Design and implement secure application architectures compliant with State policies.
  • Ensure compliance with ECM standards and State of Michigan methodologies.
  • Support high-availability Tier 2 applications serving 8,000 users.
  • Ensure adherence to security, performance, and regulatory standards.

Agile, DevOps & Release Management

  • Refine Agile backlogs and maintain release readiness schedules.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation strategies.
  • Coordinate deployments, testing, approvals, and environment management.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables and design documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to configuration management and DevOps processes.

Research & Technology Strategy

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend modernization strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of State of Michigan technology standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tools, frameworks, and development practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working in Agile development environments.
  • 5 years of experience gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements.
  • Salesforce Certification (Required).
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with Salesforce, SQL, Java, and web services development.
  • Strong Oracle SQL development and performance tuning experience.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
  • Experience with automated testing, branching strategies, and multi-environment deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise-level implementations.
  • Database-related certifications.
  • Experience with government or large-scale public sector systems.
