Senior Director, Clinical Science, Alzheimer's Disease

This role is accountable for directing, planning, innovating, and overseeing the development and delivery of products and services related to endpoint management and quality assurance in global clinical trials of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and other related neurodegenerative disease therapeutic areas. You will be actively engaged in supporting the commercial business development consultative sales process and guiding the scientific operational delivery of data quality management programs for awarded contracts.

You will support product and service development, including collaborating with external expert clinician consultants, as well as guiding and contributing to the publications/conference presentation plan related to Cogstate expertise in AD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of endpoint data quality monitoring plans for AD trial related services
  • Drive the definition and scope of study services
  • Support driving the scientific decisions around neurodegenerative indication services/supports
  • Support the publication/presentations strategy for AD
  • Contribute to publications and conference presentations in AD
  • Support delivery of scientific services in awarded studies:
    • Develop and deliver rater training content, including live and remediation sessions
    • Define and apply rater experience criteria for training and evaluation
    • Create and implement data quality strategies for AD clinical trials
    • Respond to internal and sponsor queries related to study maintenance and scientific issues
    • Lead scientific communication with clients and oversee decision-making for study-related matters
    • Serve as a subject matter expert in rater training, endpoint strategy, and data quality monitoring
    • Manage relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), both sponsor-assigned and internal
  • Support business development through proposal input, client meetings, and bid defences
  • Work collaboratively with other groups in the company (software engineering, clinician network, learning services, project management) to implement and revise processes and technology solutions to support the needs of AD clinical trials
  • Under direction of Business Development, actively network with pharmaceutical clients, seek to understand their needs and present tailored consultative sales approaches
  • Act as science lead in the development of proposals for AD opportunities with a focus on:
    • Building relationships with sponsors' clinical and operational staff, seeking to understand their needs, and decision-making criteria for awarding studies
    • Seeking opportunities to provide expertise on the various scientific and operational aspects of scales selection and quality assurance
    • Contribute to clear and effective project proposal language, in close collaboration with Business Development and Clinical Trials Operations
  • Assist in developing materials that illustrate the breadth and depth of our expertise in support of proposals

Requirements

  • Neuropsychology or related field post-graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience in CNS, clinical psychology, or similar. Specific expertise in AD and related dementias/neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Experience in interacting with clinical scientists, neuropsychologists, data managers, data scientists, and medical professionals at a high level.
  • An understanding of the science of measuring cognition and behavior, including an understanding of traditional neuropsychological assessment tools available to measure change in cognition and behavior in a clinical trial setting.
